BTW, I am moving to Rochester, NY. Observe my march through the North (Friday and Saturday). Updated by the minute! (no need to refresh browser)

Over the past couple months, I have been shooting video for a construction college located in OKC. Basically, they train (for a fee) people on how to use heavy machinery and connect them with jobs–all in a matter of 3, 6, 9, or 12 weeks. It seems like a good thing.
I was filming the orientation one morning and the president of the college stated that it is highly unlikely you will ever hear a high school counselor suggesting to a student the possibility of construction work or blue collar work in general.
That is interesting.
It has been busy around here. What I expected to be a single busy month on account of a couple of videography gigs landing in my lap in the month of october has turned into two and a half busy months.
I taped a series of financial lectures for an organization of which my mother-in-law is a member. That was followed by a taping of an University of Oklahoma School of Music performance of Mozart's "Magic Flute"–an Opera. I am only just now beginning the adventure of adding subtitles to the edited version of the opera. the financial lectures were put on hold to try to knock out the opera gig ASAP.
Amidst all of this, I managed to get two job interviews. Both of them fell through. One was for the position of videographer on the Oklahoma Wildlife Department's weekly TV show "Outdoor Oklahoma". It would have been a relatively fun way to knock out those first couple years of broadcast experience. The other interview was for an entry-level production assistant job at Ackerman-McQueen, a hoity-toity advertising firm in OKC. It would have been miserably long hours without very good pay. I would have taken the job had they offered it to me, as it would be a great thing to have the name Ackerman-McQueen on a resume–even if it was just a year-long stint with the company. However, I am somewhat relieved it fell through. It would have been boot camp.
It was certainly discouraging to be rejected for the two positions. However, it is not like I am unemployed and looking for work. Rather, I have a very cushy job at the moment that is allowing me plenty of free time to chase after free lance video work. Furthermore, I know that God is at work, and there exists some reason(s) (which I may very well never understand) as to why those certain jobs fell through.
Thanks to craigslist, I landed another free lance gig a couple weeks back shooting footage for a promotional video for a construction college located on the west side of OKC. That will continue sporadically through the new year.
Nicole has, of course, been terribly tied up with all kinds of business and schooling as of late. However, I will leave that to her to blog about whenever she gets a free moment to do so.
There are also plenty of other rather large things going on currently in our lives, but I will also save those for the next round of blogging. I just needed to bite of a piece of this update before it became something of an overwhelming task.
Well folks, that is right. After four and a half years of work I will be graduating in December barring any huge illnesses or death. I bought my announcements yesterday (none of you reading this will probably be getting any – they are only going to close family – don't want to overkill).
I have never not been in school. That's right never not been in school and still come out with sentences that include phrases such as 'never not'. This will be strange. My life has revolved around school for about 17 or 18 years now. I'm only 22. Yeeps. I can't wait. Think of the papers and projects I won't have to turn in this spring, but think of the projects I won't do and the photos I won't take because I'm not required. Thankfully I have Clint to help me keep making work and keep me talking about new and interesting things. Gotta love that husband.
Hot off the hyper-text presses, my new website. It looks fantastic and has an envy-infusing "back end" to handle orders and all kinds of cool stuff. Andy Johnson is an excellent web designer.
